"Archbishop Murphy High School of Everett, WA has a history of academic excellence. Started in 1988, Archbishop Murphy High School is a private Catholic school with a focus on college preparation. Of the Class of 2010, 99% of the graduates are pursuing higher education and 76% graduated with academic honors. The Class of 2010 was offered $10.2 million in merit scholarships and awards.

Archbishop Murphy High School recently announced several students have excelled in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship competition. About 1.5 million juniors in 22,000 high schools entered the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

Students Amy Anne Purdy and Elaine Hy Nguyen are semifinalists for approximately 8,400 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $36 million dollars. They advance to the Finalist level based upon their cumulative GPAs and SAT scores. In May, 2011 the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will announce the Finalists.

Academic Excellence - Class of 2010 Highlights ?The average cumulative grade point for all four years was 3.497. ?67% of the class took Advanced Placement and/or other courses that generated college credit while at AMHS. ?131 graduates were offered merit scholarships and awards totaling over $10.2 million. ?76% of the class graduated with Academic Honors (cumulative GPA higher than 3.2). ?Three graduates were recognized as National Merit Commended students. ?The class achieved an average SAT score of 1125 (includes verbal and math scores only). ?99% of the Class of 2010 will be pursuing post-secondary education. 89% are going on to four year universities. 23% will attend a Catholic university.
